As Pope Francis so humbly states:

"To love God and neighbor is not something abstract, but profoundly concrete: it means seeing in every person the face of the Lord to be served, to serve him concretely. And you are, dear brothers and sisters, the face of Jesus." (5/21/13)

Angel Tree

Christmas Angel Tree
In keeping with the spirit of Christmas and this Holiday Season, we are again requesting your support for the Christmas Angel Tree Project sponsored by Mount St. Mary’s Hospital. Each angel contains the sex and age of a child that is served by MSMH Neighborhood Health Center, Heart, Love and Soul Food Pantry, and referrals received for assistance. This year a Christmas tree with angels will be at both churches – St. Peter and St. Bernard.
The angel specifies a requested gift, as well as the clothing size for that child. After choosing the angel, we ask that you return the gift (place under the Christmas tree in each church) in a box or gift bag, unwrapped, with the angel attached to the gift, no later than Sunday, December 11. Gifts may be returned to either worship site. If you do not want to choose an angel, warm hats, gloves, scarves and socks are always appreciated.
Parents of the children will be able to come “shopping” for their children at the Niagara Falls Conference Center on Saturday, December 17, in time for the holidays. We are looking for volunteers to help at the Conference Center on Friday, December 16 to sort the gifts and Saturday, December 17 to help with the “shopping.”
More information regarding the sorting of the gifts at both
churches will be available in the bulletin closer to the final return date. If you have any questions regarding the information on the “angel” and/or would like to volunteer on either day, please feel free to contact Barbara Malinowski at 754-4068 (home).

Growing in our Faith

One of the very best ways to grow in your faith and your relationship with Jesus is by the practice of Eucharistic Adoration.

What is Eucharistic Adoration?

Eucharistic Adoration is when we spend time in prayer with Jesus in the form of the Blessed Sacrament. You can pray in any Catholic Church or Chapel for a short amount of time or a long amount of time. Jesus could be in a Tabernacle or a Monstrance while we are praying.

What is the Blessed Sacrament?

Once a host has been Consecrated at Mass, we call it the Blessed Sacrament, or the Eucharist, or a Sacred Host, because it is no longer bread but is Jesus’ Body.

What is a Monstrance?

A Monstrance is a special stand that looks like a golden sunburst which holds the Eucharist up high so everyone can see it.

What do you do during Adoration?

Talk to Jesus in your heart about how you love Him, what you are sorry for, ways you want to thank Him, and for things you and other people need. Sit quietly and look at Jesus, and listen to Him with your heart. Pray a Rosary or the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, read a passage from the Bible and reflect on it, or write in your prayer journal.

On the First Friday of each month, St. Peter’s has all day Eucharistic Adoration.

Our next Baptism class will be held on Wednesday
December 14th, 2016

The class begins at 7:00 pm, and is held in St. Peter’s Rectory. Attendance is mandatory for families wishing to baptize their children. Please call the rectory at 754-4118 for any questions you may have and to reserve your place.

Children's Liturgy

Children's Liturgy Leaders

We are looking for new members for our Children’s Liturgy team. This ministry is a great opportunity to share God’s Word with the littlest ones of our parish! Each week, one leader takes the group to the Parish Hall during Mass and reads/explains the Gospel to them in a way that they can understand. The Children’s Liturgy runs during 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Peter’s and we rotate teachers, so we only ask for a once a month commitment and we are all flexible to switch. We can help with preparations for any newcomers. Contact Libby Broderick (545-2143) for more info.

St. Vincent de Paul Parish is now offering Marriage Preparation (Pre-Cana) classes for those who are entering into the sacrament of Marriage. You will receive a certificate upon completion of the class. Please call Dave Augustyniak at (716) 523-3496 with questions and for class dates and times.
